If you have guessed that my controversy is something about sex, then you are pretty close to a 100% on this blog. More forward though, this blog is about what sexual references are being exposed to the children of America through ads and television. I’m going to guess that none of our classmates have any children but this could be to those with the younger siblings, or siblings with children. Either way, we can all understand how seeing something like this image above when coming of age to understand that this isn’t two camels laying on one and other for comfort and laughing for the humor of the situation. NO, this is two camels do the dirty naughty and as adults we should be responsible enough to keep it away from fragile eyes. At least for as long as we can, it’s a rough and raunchy world, why expose it to them when all they need to worry about is Dora The Explore and maybe some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Ok TMNT, shows violence, but meh. It’s a great show, and doesn’t show sex, so on with THINE’ BLOG).
As one of our classmates has already done a blog on sexual references as their picture controversy (I believe Justin. I really liked his blog, thus my stance now.); I can see that not only myself but others feel that having these non censored advertisements are a reckless and negligent. Through commercials or pop-ups on the Internet these ads are being leaked to the younger viewers who are less equipped in mental maturity to digesting these suggestions. His picture of the 7-inch Burger King sandwich is a perfect example; it’s none discreet to its message at all. If you are unfamiliar I suggest looking at his blog, he explains it very well. But it is of a woman with this sandwich in front of her face like as a phallic symbol and her mouth parted in an O shape. I say why not go all the way, after all they have gone this far, put a little mayo on her lip and call it a done day. I can suspect that the kids that found this ad in a magazine or on the Internet thought this exact adaptation, maybe not that clever but in the same sense.
So what do you think? Should we stand back and let companies get by with these obtrusive ads? My opinion is set, now it is your turn to comment and make your stance.
