Blog Uno "Experience and Me"

Looking back a year from now, I should be somewhere in the magnificence of Colorado. Incredibly beautiful the scenery was during my time there, the forest was alive as the flame in the communal fire after a hard day work, the mountains as detail and fine as the ever-changing teeth of a tiger shark. Which brings us to our little story or a written montage you could say. This was the first time I have ever gone skinny dipping, and oh boy did I choose the correct scenery.

To picture this correctly, my crew and I had just gone through a grueling, rocky ascent that encompassed crossing a flooded stream with our over load packs in our boots which protected the souls of our most necessary tool our feet. We tried very desperately to keep our feet dry for the upcoming miles, but to our dismay we had to cross with our boots on, the stream was full of rocks that could damage our feet and could ruin our carrier of the summer entirely. Therefore we kept the boots on and trudge forward. After that tempers ran high, I personally had to step between two of our gentlemen who were snipping at each others neck to blame for there own faults and tribulations like a bunch of mules. That resolved quite awkwardly and ironically with a little relief of my own, that is if we are comparing these gentlemen to mules and the last statement of their debate came from me. Lets just say that my crew ate a very fibber enrich diet, and going from a meat diet to a mainly vegetable diet is a rather big stress on the system; not to mention after finishing half of our twelve mile hike. We will just leave it at that.

We finally made it to our destination; a camping spot next to a beautiful lake with the mountain peaks reflecting into the water as if there was more to this world then we could see. One after another we dropped pack to set up camp and then proceed to our long awaited relaxation, but wait we are not at the freeing moment yet, there is a little more then we can have the chance to hang lose. Our crew was assigned by our leader to write something insightful, more or less, of what we felt so far about living with these complete strangers, who now are some of my closest friends and hearing that after all that we have gone through together honestly struck us all deep within ourselves. Everyone after getting our assignments dealt with personal matters and then went off on their own to think about what our leader had told us. I started to explore around the lake and found this boulder that seem to sit on the water ever so gently. I thought to myself, “Hell, if I need to write something so emotional driven why don’t I go where the nature has intended me to write.” Thankfully this boulder was only a step on a rock, a skip and a leap away from getting on the boulder. Once there I tore off my boots and my shirt and relaxed under the beating sun. Another one of my male comrades joined me, as well as at another boulder in the distance that took two of my female crew mates. We sat and bantered with the following boulder, telling them that there boulder was a subordinate in the boulder community, that there water could not possibly be as beautiful as ours. From there the ladies inched into the water as nature intend, birthday suit had come unfold. We still continued chitchat as they went on there side of the boulder, to have a little privacy other then being able to see there heads from where we were sitting. I continued to remark, one thing after another the point has come to let all lose. I decided to moon the ladies who were enjoying there day as if at the spa, but with the lowering of ones britches it seemed that I lowered all sides and not just the behind. There I was completely unprotected to any on lookers, and what do I do, the most sensible thing that I could think in a situation like that. I jumped into the water; it was very very cold mind you. It was one of the most relieving points of my time in Colorado, and this lake from hence forth was renamed skinny dip lake.

  2. Haha oh goodness. I am literally laughing out loud right now, this story is ridiculous. But Colorado sounds beautiful. I'm hoping to make it there someday. I think it's awesome that you lived there for a time in your life. It's nice to show your wild side every once in a while, great story!

  3. So funny, I could never do that and probably never will. Colorado does sound beautiful, my aunt and uncle lived out there for a while and definatly talked it up. Maybe I'll visit one day. Who knows?

  4. I am envious of your time spent in Colorado. How long were you there? I hear it is absolutely gorgeous. You make it pretty clear, in this funny story, that you can become one with nature out there. It's hard to skinny dip in Maryland because we have only a few man-made and inherently busy lakes. It sounds like a liberating experience though. I hear backpacking in Colorado is a must do and I am sure you would agree. Any good spots you can recommend? My friends and I have been considering going out there for some snowboarding/backpacking for some time now. This story might be just what we all need to push us to make the move. Keep having fun with your blogs. It makes me smile knowing that you are enjoying writing and the recollections the process brings.
